I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.Shawn runs her a diner that’s been in her family for years and she enjoys it. Although she loves living in Lake Tahoe not only because of the diner but also because she loved going visiting her grandparents when she was young. Now she a bit restless she didn’t mind having casual flings with tourists but lately she been feeling that she ready for serious relationship she doesn’t think anyone would want to settle with her in Lake Tahoe.Morgan who just walk-in on her girlfriend Jess with another woman in her bed threw her for loop she know their relationship was a bit strain but she never thought Jess would do that to her. While she decides to go back to Lake Tahoe to figure out how to heal her heart and move forward.Shawn and Morgan meet and feel sparks between them as they get to know each other Shawn fears Morgan won’t stay and Morgan wonders if she should try again but fears her heart will be broken again.I enjoy this read. This is a first for me for this author so I didn't have any expectations going in about her writing from past books....with that being said, I can't say I really enjoyed this story, sorry. In the first 25% or so of the book it is fast paced and seemed like the timeline was a bit jumpy, but I do like that better than a dragging, repetitive story line.You got a feel for both main characters right away, Shawn a diner owner with a strong pass to the town her diner is in so you have a lot of history there and Morgan a vacationer that has a spark with Shawn right away. What I had a really hard time with is the author kept putting labels on them and other characters, butch, femme, soft femme, big butch....I am ok with descriptions of a character but when you label them specifically, not a fan.As the story moves on and Shawn and Morgan start to get interested in each other, the author gives us a really good feel of their environment, specifically Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area. I can safely say, without ever having visited California, I can really picture Lake Tahoe. The chemistry between the MCs is good, but they really have communication issues-really, who takes a person's dog and not text them about it. Also how the angst was pulled off, misunderstanding based on a conversation that Morgan eased dropped on, and didn't even bother to ask Shawn direct, I thought was just a bit over the top for what caused the blowup, just a bit trivial for the plot line. Other than that, I did like the characters and how they interacted before the blowup.Now for the sex scene, very hot, always enjoy a good sex scene and the author had quite the build up for it, dedicating a lot of pages to it all, like I said, hot.All in all, the book was ok, just felt choppy at the beginning (due to the sped up timeline) and the labeling, but overall it was a nice read for the summer. Maybe I'll even put Lake Tahoe on my travel to-do list.I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but would have written the same opinion if I had come across this author on my own.
